I see a place Down deep inside. It strains at my being; A longing I cannot deny. Its vast nothingness Filleth my soul. Earnestly, my spirit urges me To fill the gaping hole.
My heart bleeds; My soul cries, “What can fill? What can satisfy?” This longing need Leaves me destitute and broken.. I was hurt and lost; Then soft words were spoken.
They told of a place Far greater than this, All filled with peace And loveliness. Tranquil beauty, Joyous mirth; Merry times, And wholesome rebirth.
Its call is old, Old as the sea. But it, with strength not faded, Desperately cries out to me. I heed the words; My heart replies. At this glimmer of hope My spirit, lifted, flies.
Alas! For I know The length of the road ahead. It is long and perilous, Where weary feet do tread. But through the pain, Through the sorrow This shining land I see As the hope for a lasting ‘morrow.
Chasing dawn, My heart seeks its desire, Though my lungs pound And my body grows tired. A final peace, A lasting shelter… My heart has been weary; A home, it seeks after.
Perhaps one day I shall find refuge there. Ever in prospering peace, Ne’re a blot of despair. Yes. This is my final hope. This shall be my reason. For I cannot remain here With the pain and cold-blooded treason.
So take up courage, O aching heart of mine. The hope remains Of a more lasting time. Indeed, the road is long, And narrow is the set way. But what lies ahead, Is where all your last hopes lay.
