Prolouge:
Well, I grew up just like any ordinary fox oughta, I had a mom, a dad, and a brother. But then, when I had just grown out of dibbunhood, it happened. My older brother, Bared, he was diffrent, he never followed the rules, he was, a, a sort of rebel. I guess my mom or my dad had asked him to do something, maybe just stay inside for a little until they got back from my uncle's place, but he didn't listen. Instead he went out, I saw him go, but he never came back. Neither did my parents. I thought that my uncle just wanted them to stay over a little longer, but after the next day had passed, I figured that something was wrong. I strapped on my cloak, and I grabed a bag full of a few rations my mom always had around, and I went out. I had just reached the fringe of the forest, when I was captured. They were slavers, I guess they thought I'd be good since I was still young. It was pretty late, and they set up camp. One of them, a female fox slaver, I think she took to me, being a fox and all. I asked her if she'd seen my brother, and with blank, emotionaless eyes, she said that they had, and had alredy sold him to a group of sea rats. I knew then that I had probally lost my brother forever. So, even though I was a little scared to, I asked her about my parents. She said that were, gone. That the lead slaver, the same one who sold my brother, had killed them. They were trying to protect a little one, my cousin. She got captured. I tried to find out where she, but, the slaver stoped talking. That night was just the beginning of the travels, the sleepless nights, the pain of the whip. But, I'll skip it, it wasn't nice. Well, the same fox slaver was talking to me, and she was just about to tell me where my cousin was, when I saw silver. I think I was hit on the head, and the last thing I saw before blacking out was the fox slaver, the one who was nicer to me than some of the others, slumping, a spear poking out from her stomache. I guess I was bleeding, a lot, because when I woke up, I was in a crevase, it was old and smelled of dead things. I crawled out, very slowly, and then I blacked out again.
Chapter 1:
I woke up for the second time in maybe one day, I was in a bed, a fire warming the room from the hearth, and I saw a fox smoking his pipe. I couldn't belive it, it was, my brother. My own rebelious brother, alive, away from the sea rats. He turned and saw me, and my heart dropped. It was my brother, but he had changed. The same rebel spirit was there, but other things had changed. He had a scar on his left cheek, and a strange look in his eyes. No, it wasn't my brother. This was someone else, he only used to be my brother. My brother smiled, and I winced. He chuckled, and he got up from his chair. He walked over, and bent down to look me in the face, his eyes sparkled, but I wasn't sure what with. "So little brother, you're alive. I figured you'd stay alive, it was just a bonk on the head." He turned around, and I lay back down on the bed. Maybe it was just a shadow on my brother. "Well little brother, I guess you found out about our uncle, and our parents, and our cousin. I know what happened to everyone, I even saw the head slaver myself. I'm amazed you lasted so long without being sold, a season is a long time." A season, I was captured for so long? How can that be, it only felt like a few weeks. But I could have lost track, it's hard when every day is just marching. "Well brother, I suppose I should teach you all I've learned in the past season. While you were marching, I was escaping, fighting, learning what the woods had to teach. So now, I'll teach you. But you're still injured. I used a salve of mine, I'll teach you that and much more, but later. after you are healed. It shouldn't be long."
